400-408  Parents:  what's your spanking policy?  Do you think it's abuse?  Do your parents agree (the kids' grandparents)?  Are you repeating their policy with you, or have you started a new spanking policy with your kids?  Do you suffer from any effects of being spanked as a child?

(2:09) Spanking pt. 1. (George Stephanopoulos for ABC's Good Morning America talks about the issue of spanking using a story about parents Laura and Todd Mansfield who oppose spanking @ 7/6/2010).  Connor 6, Drew 3.

(4:13) Spanking pt. 2. (Stephanopoulos continues the topic by interviewing psychologists Ann Pleshette Murphy and Kevin Leman, author of "Have A New Kid By Friday," who are on opposing sides of the issue.)

Done in anger?  Does it work?  Most parents are in favor of spanking, but they don't do it right?

A single swat on a clothed bottom?  Defiance?  Running for the street?  Fork in the outlet?

Where's the line between discipline and abuse?

Should caregivers (like grandparents) have a different policy toward spanking than the parents?

"I'm disappointed with you!" works.  Empty threats don't.
