(1:02) // Jose Diaz Balart – Would you consider the current Egyptian regime an ally of the United States?

Pres. Obama: I don't think that we would consider them an ally, but we don't consider them an enemy. They're a new government that is trying to find its way. They were democratically elected. I think that we are going to have to see how they respond to this incident. How they respond to, for example, maintaining the peace treaty in isr..with Israel. So far, at least, what we've seen is that in some cases they've said the right things and taken the right steps. In others, how they've responded to various events may not be aligned with our interests. And, So I think it's still a work in progress, but certainly in this situation what we're going to expect is that they are responsive to our insistence that our embassy is protected, our personnel is protected, and if they take actions that indicate they're not taking responsibilities, as all other countries do where we have embassies, I think that's going to be a real big problem. //

// This morning, on MSNBC of all places, NBC's chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel obviously didn't get the memo about protecting The One throughout this crisis and hammered Obama over losing one of three allies America has in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia and Israel being the other two):

CHUCK TODD: I just want to get your first reaction, before you give me a report, of the President saying Egypt was not an ally or an enemy.

RICHARD ENGEL: Yeah, I almost had to sit down when I heard that.  For the last forty years, the United States has had two main allies in the Middle East — Saudi Arabia and Egypt, the other ally in the Middle East being Israel.  For the President to come out and say, well, he's not exactly sure if Egypt is an ally any more but it's not an enemy, that is a significant change in the perspective of Washington toward this country, the biggest country in the Arab world.  It makes one wonder, well, was it worth it?  Was it worth supporting the Arab Spring, supporting the demonstrations here in Tahrir Square, when now in Tahrir Square there are clashes going on behind me right in front of the US embassy?

443-452 – (:32) • The Blaze (9/13/2012) IRONIC? OBAMA IN 2008: WASHINGTON SPENDS 'TOO LITTLE TIME READING THE INTELLIGENCE REPORTS & TOO MUCH TIME READING PUBLIC OPINION.

As a candidate for President in 2008, candidate Barack Obama harshly condemned politicians in Washington for being too concerned with politics and not concerned enough with intelligence.  Obama chastised the Washington establishment in a highly touted speech on the Iraq war:

"…[T]here were too many politicians in Washington who spent too little time reading the intelligence reports, and too much time reading public opinion. The lesson of Iraq is that when we are making decisions about matters as grave as war, we need a policy rooted in reason and facts, not ideology and politics." –Senator Obama, Fayetteville, North Carolina, March 19th, 2008.

However, the Government Accountability Institute recently examined President Obama's schedule to see how often he attended his Presidential Daily Intelligence Briefing (PDBs).  During his first two and a half years in office, Obama attended the briefing just 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012 his attendance fell to just over 38 percent.  And others have suggested in the week before the deadly embassy attacks Obama was absent from such meetings. By contrast, Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting according to former Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen.

To be fair, the White House claims the president reads his daily briefings everyday if he does not attend the meetings personally.  But the irony remains that while candidate Obama campaigned on putting intelligence at the forefront of his administration, President Obama, even if he is reading, is not attending and engaging. //

512-523 – Calls – Do you think the movie is to blame?  Secretary of State Clinton thinks so.  Liberals get so enraged over all of the injustices that are done in America – when are they going to get just a little upset when the injustices are done at America?  As in raping and murdering our Ambassador, killing our diplomats, burning our embassies, desecrating our flag, and chanting "Death to America"?  How about a little outrage on behalf of America, instead of at America?  While our embassies burn, why is our President in Vegas?  While the Muslim Brotherhood calls for a Million Man March in Cairo, where will Obama be?  What's the end game for al Qaeda?  Prohibiting any criticism of Islam, either in speech or print, in order to "save lives."  That is, to make the "slander" of Islam unlawful on an international scale.  We throw out the First Amendment, and they let us live – what a deal.  It's called "lawfare," using our laws as weapons against us.

(5X) • The Blaze (9/13/2012) 'DEATH TO AMERICA!': U.S. EMBASSY IN YEMEN OVERRUN, MORE RIOTS IN EGYPT.

NBC's Richard Engel reported from the streets of Cairo last night and talked at length about the efforts of Egypt's new president Muhammed Morsi to "butter both sides of the bread" as he attempts to keep the Egyptian people from attacking the American embassy while allowing them to protest. Engel's report included a few statements about the new president that many Americans might find alarming:

"His heart and his politics are with the people who are on the streets, with the people who are offended by this ridiculous video."

"Already today, Morsi, the president, asked the embassy in Washington to file a lawsuit against the director of this ridiculous movie."

"He is against the movie, which I can understand, he's trying to play that populist card a little bit, so he doesn't want to crush these demonstrations too much."

"He's not going to go out on television and say, 'what you're doing is wrong'

"This is the kind of guy, who before he became president, would likely have been out doing this kind of demonstration."
