400-408Frank Wright, president of the National Religious Broadcasters (nrb.org), on what's known as "The Performance Tax" (HR848/S379), a tax levied against music radio stations so that they would have to pay even more money than the hundreds of millions they already pay to ASCAP, BMI, and SESAC every year.

"KKLA is partnering with Family Life to help 2,000 couples take their marriages to the next step!  The first step was dating, the second when you got engaged, the third when you got married, but there's so much more than settling in to a comfortable routine!  There are memories to be created and an adventure to be shared, a new closeness that, until now, has seemed beyond reach.  It's an investment in each other, in your marriage, in your family, and in the church – imagine the impact the church will have when 2,000 super-charged Christian marriages are unleashed into our neighborhoods and communities into Southern California!  Come discover the next step in your marriage, and experience the Marriage Adventure that God wants for you both, and it starts by attending a Weekend to Remember conference coming soon near you."
• FLT has helped over a million couples from all walks of life and in every stage of marriage take this next step to make their marriages stronger and healthier than ever, by building them on a biblical foundation that helps you to communicate better, how to resolve conflict and express forgiveness, and how to respond to your mate in love instead of anger, and receive him or her as God's gift to you.
Guys:  This will not be pick-on-the-husbands women's conference!  It's designed for guys too!  It's fun, entertaining, fast moving, and often hilarious!  You won't be put on the spot and have to "share," there's nothing embarrassing or awkward about it, it's just a great time to re-connect with the love of your life just like back when you were dating – only better!  Think of it as expert "how to" tips from Romance Coaches.
Give Away:  We're giving away a "Weekend To Remember Marriage Adventure" Packages so you guys can give them away to a couple you know who might be struggling in their marriage.  It could be a neighbor, a friend, someone at work, someone in your church, or one of your married children.  They'll get free registration and hotel accommodations to the Marriage Adventure of their choice.
Cost:   $260 a couple, plus the cost of 2 days and nights at the hotel, all for about $500 – the same as a weekend at the beach, Palm Springs, or a retreat center, but the return on investment will pay dividends for a lifetime.
Dates:  Ontario March 27–29, Woodland Hills  April 24–26, and Irvine  May 1–3.
Registration:  Log on to familylife.com/weekend.
Topics:  The 5 Threats To Marriage, Rediscovering How To Truly Talk With Each Other, Unlock The Mystery Of Marriage, Move From "How" To "Wow", The One Thing That Every Marriage Needs, The Rules Of Engagement, Marriage After Dark, Roles, How Marriages Thrive.

558-608"Michael" in Ventura, a music writer and composer, fills in some of the gaps on how artists are paid.  Essentially, if you sing but don't write you only get a performance royalty, while writers get royalties from ASCAP and BMI.  Those performers who aren't writing, are the ones in favor of this Performance Tax.  Again, I think the end game is to silence political opposition speech, it's not about the music or the artists or even the money, it's about power, political power.
