November is National Adoption Awareness Month, so today we're focusing on the issue of adoption.
James 1:27 – Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world (NASB).
With 300,000 churches in America, and 127,000 legal orphans awaiting for adoption right now, with 20,000 "aging out" every year, how can we help?

400-408Kelly Rosati, Senior Director of Sanctity of Human Life at Focus on the Family, who's also an adoptive mother of four! (icareaboutorphans.org).  They have two helpful resources, Thriving As An Adoptive Family and Wrapping Around Adoptive Families.

428-437Paul Pennington, executive director of Family Life Ministries' Hope for Orphans program (hopefororphans.org), which hosts If You Were Mine conferences across the country that give couples considering adoption a relaxed atmosphere in which to get the information they need about adoption from a biblical perspective.  Paul is also behind the new Cry of the Orphan outreach next week on Family Life, heard weekdays at 8:30am (cryoftheorphan.org), an alliance of Focus on the Family, FamilyLife, and Shoshanna's Hope (Stephen Curtis Chapman's daughter), to raise awareness of the more than 130 million orphaned children throughout the world.  Another great organization is christianalliancefororphans.org.

458-508Jeff and Maureen Learned, who are right now in the midst of foster-adopting two little girls, 18 months and 5 months, they have an older adopted little girl now 4, and their own biological daughter now 9 years old, who are working with Olive Crest Foster and Adoption Agency (olivecrest.org).  They were persuaded to "help" a child rather than "have" a child.

528-538Jeff and Maureen Learned.  Through Olive Crest, certification is free.  Kids adopted through foster-adopt come with a monthly stipend ($450 at 3 years and younger), Medical, and essentially free college tuition.  To avoid abandoning your baby, and instead giving him or her up for adoption, contact www.projectcuddle.org.
544-554Jeff and Maureen Learned,
558-608 – Here's an organization that mentors foster teens and they're having a Christmas party and need your financial help:  www.impactinghearts.org.
