• LA Times (5/30/2011) Video: Kindergarten teacher leads children in song during shootout in Mexico.   Martha Rivera Alanis sang to her kindergarten kids during a shootout taking place outside the school in Monterrey last Friday.  One man said on Twitter: "Regarding the prize for the teacher, I think that's good, but I am left asking: How many anonymous heroes do we have who are not filmed on video?"

428-438 – Calls:  Those of you who have lived or are living in rough neighborhoods, anything like this ever happen?  How do you prepare your young children for the violent world outside the safety of home?  Schoolteachers, ever have to distract the kids while something is going on outside?  Do you have a story about an anonymous hero that wasn't filmed on video that we need to know about?

443-452 – • USA Today (6/1/2011) Cops, firefighters watch on shore as suicide victim drowns.  It violated department policy for either the police or the fire department to do a water rescue, so they had to rely on the Coast Guard – but the water was too shallow for them and their helicopter was on another call, so 57-year-old Raymond Zuck successfully committed suicide by drowning just 150 yards off shore in 5 feet of water as everyone watched for over an hour.  And, it took an off-duty nurse to recover Zack's body just 50 yards off shore.  Alameda changed the policy Tuesday night.

544-554 – (Rocky) • Daily Bulletin (6/2/2011) Seven stellar upperclassmen give Etiwanda chance for first crown.  Etiwanda faces Mission Viejo tonight for the CIF Southern Section Baseball Championship at Dodger Stadium at 730pm.   It's a "Rocky" kind of story so far.  Etiwanda finished just third in the Baseline League with just a 6-9 mark and had to win their last two games of the regular season just to make the playoffs.  But now, after defeating powerhouses Trabuco Hills, Chino Hills, Redlands and Arcadia, they're in the championship game thanks to their impressive teamwork and the contributions of seven seniors.

558-608 – Paul Tripp, is the the President of Paul Tripp Ministries (paultrippministries.com) and Professor of Pastoral Life and Care at Redeemer Seminary in Dallas, and Executive Director of the Center for Pastoral Life and Care in Fort Worth.  He and his wife Luella live in Philadelphia and enjoy four children and XX grandchildren.  Paul is a pastor, a professor, and a painter.  There's a bunch of resources on his website.  I first heard about him a few weeks ago when some dear friends, Dee Dee & Anthony Munoz (yep, that one that's in the NFL Hall of Fame), were gushing about the impact Paul has made on their lives through his DVD series on parenting – even though they've never met personally.
