• We're hosting our KKLA Business Leaders Luncheon, on Wednesday, January 27th, at the Doubletree, Anaheim.  We'll be featuring Dr. John Townsend, heard on KKLA weekdays from 2-3pm.  For info, go to kkla.com!  And don't forget, someone's going to walk out of there with $16,000 in free advertising!

400-408 Dallas Willard, Professor of Philosophy at USC, and the person who has had the biggest impact on my spiritual life through his books and tapes, especially his The Divine Conspiracy.  His latest book is great too, it's entitled Knowing Christ Today: Why We Can Trust Spiritual Knowledge (dwillard.org).

Dallas will be teaching an all-day "Knowledge For Life" conference on Saturday, April 17, from 9am-5pm, at the Anaheim Vineyard.  Seating is limited, so they're accepting online registrations at vcfanaheim.com.

In 5 one-hour-long sessions, Dallas will explain:  1) Why spiritual knowledge matters to our flourishing.  2) How and why secularism assaults spiritual knowledge and what to do about it.  3)  How human desires need spiritual knowledge in order for a life to be led well.  4) How and why knowledge, not mere faith-commitment, empowers us to be in the public square.  And, 5) How to have a life that steadfastly experiences growth in knowledge and love.

443-452 Jeff Schadt, is the Executive Director of Youth Transition Network (YouthTransitionNetwork.org), and their transition site for students is liveabove.com.  Their focus is on helping young adults transition from high school to college.  In his research with thousands of Christian teens, he's found out they define "hypocrisy" as "leading an intentionally deceptive life," and they report the majority of their youth groups are filled with "hypocrites."  In fact, if you're sexually active, you actually gain status in youth group because you've been to the Forbidden Island.  The sexual pressure is intense in Christian schools, far more than in secular schools.  The bottom line is that we've got to do a far better job at preparing our kids to launch.  The problem isn't really intellectual, it's social.  The problem isn't about worldview and knowledge as much as it is about culture and obedience.  Jeff's research shows that if kids are introduced into a Christian social group before they arrive on campus, we're not going to lose them.  Hence, the whole purpose of their Succeed Event coming up on February 27, 2010, designed for parents to attend with their children.  Go to www.succeed2010.com  for more information on how you can participate, or even become a host site.
