Dick's wife Charlotte runs Gogo Grandmothers, linking grandparents in the US with those caring for orphans in Malawi (GogoGrandmothers.com). Summary Points: Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, born in Arlington, Va., to Palestinian Muslim parents. A lifelong Muslim. He gave a recent presentation to students arguing the American-led war on terrorism was a war against his religion. He was against US wars in Muslim countries. The base commander, Lt. Gen. Robert Cone, reported several soldiers heard Hasan shouting "Allahu Akbar" before he started firing. 43 shot, 13 dead, 30 injured. He gave his apartment manager notice two weeks ago that he was moving out this week. He said his goodbyes to his neighbors earlier this week, dispensing many of his personal items to them, and giving them Korans – though his immediate orders to deploy to Afghanistan had not come through. He had hired a lawyer to get him a discharge.
