// Here is an excerpt from the article on the Nation of Islam website (emphasis added):

The present-day lynch mobs

I want Black youth to hear this message, because police authorities are the same today as they were during slavery. In fact, this is how policing began. Police were formed to catch runaway slaves, bring them back to their masters and make examples of them to throw fear into other slaves. It's the same today. Police authorities are trained to kill, as well as to protect. But where Black people are concerned, police legitimize their mob attacks under the name of "back up."Police back up is often no different than the lynch mobs 100 years ago. The killing of our people, shooting them with many bullets when one would have done the job. And then, that deliberative body which is to discuss the brutal murder of our people by looking into the facts, comes away calling it justifiable homicide.

In Chicago recently, a young, Black Brother was shot down by the police and the parents are aggrieved. The police said the young Brother was running and he had something in his hands, but the witnesses will tell you, "He didn't have anything in his hands; he was just shot down." And the body of persons in a deliberative process to determine the facts that is supposed to address this … But when they look into it, the verdict comes back as "Another dead Negro—justifiable homicide." 612-623 – Michael John Cusick is an ordained minister, spiritual director, and Licensed Professional Counselor who's been helping people for the past 25 years connect life's broken realities with the reality of the gospel.  His latest book is Surfing for God: Discovering the Divine Desire Beneath Sexual Struggle (2012) (Amazon), and it asks the question, "What if a lust for porn were really a deep thirst for God?", bouncing off of G.K. Chesterton's "Every time a man knocks on a brothel door, he is really knocking for God." (surfingforgodbook.com).  Michael shares the story of his abuse at the age of 4, his coming to faith in Christ at 16, his successful ministry in his early 20's – all while he's in bondage to pornography and prostitution.  He now offers help beyond the "try harder" "gospel of sin management," and he shares it with others.

[From the webpage] Most Christians know that lust and porn are not God's best for their lives. So why can't they stop? Common wisdom says if they just had more willpower or more faith, the fight would be over. Is the answer really that simple? Of course not.

In a porn saturated world, averting our eyes and getting more accountability won't do it. More prayer, more Bible study, or more discipline won't do it. We need something more than flexing our moral muscles, because in the battle for integrity, more effort and striving only leaves us empty (or proud).

We need an approach to struggles with lust, porn, and sexual addiction which honor the brokenness in our lives, yet point us toward wholeness in Christ. We need an approach which reminds us of our heart's deepest desire–something more fulfilling than sexual gratification.

What we need is freedom. But why is that we find it so difficult to connect Jesus' promise of freedom to our struggles with porn and lust?  We believe that Christ can set us free but we don't have a clue how this happens.

Surfing for God: Discovering the Divine Desire Beneath Sexual Struggle, is a book that describes how this freedom happens. It describes the path for how a man is restored from addiction and brokenness to freedom and wholeheartedness. It's a path where I've witnessed countless men be set free.

It happened to me. And it can happen to you.
