458-508 – Dallas Willard, Professor of Philosophy at USC, my favorite Christian author and teacher, has had a bigger impact on my spiritual life than anyone else, especially through the book I recommend to people more than any other – his classic The Divine Conspiracy: Rediscovering Our Hidden Life In God (1998).  His other books are:  The Spirit of the Disciplines: Understanding How God Changes Lives (1991)Hearing God: Developing a Conversational Relationship With God (1999), Knowing Christ Today: Why We Can Trust Spiritual Knowledge (2000), and Renovation of the Heart: Putting On the Character of Christ (2002).  There's lots of great resources at his website,

• Today, Dallas responds to the Afghanistan video of the woman executed for adultery – it's all about evil emboldened with a sense of righteousness.  There is no problem of evil in Islam, it's all about obedience to Allah, and Allah never claims to be good.  It reminds us to ask the question, "Is your religion making you a better person?"  "Is your religion leading you to do something wrong?"
