400-408 – Dr. Scott Todd, Senior Ministry Advisor at Compassion International (compassion.com), talks about the 58 Initiative (live58.org), based on Isaiah 58.  Dr. Todd has a Ph.D. in immunology from the University of California, was a fellow in oncology at Stanford University, has been published in more than a dozen biomedical journals, and holds a patent for the treatment of Hepatitis C (bio).  He left his academic research in 2003 to join Compassion, and has spoken all over the world with the message that extreme global poverty can be eradicated in our lifetime.  He was recently featured in the provocative and stirring short film "The Poor WILL NOT Always Be with Us" (YouTube).  His latest book is Fast Living: How the Church Will End Extreme Poverty (2011) (Amazon) – the main point of which is that if we were able to cut extreme global poverty (living on less than $1 a day) in half between 1981 (52%) and 2005 (26%), we can end it in our generation.

413-423 – Dr. Scott Todd, What's the first thing you do when working in a poor village?  Build the relationship and help them dream what is possible, especially for their children.

428-438 – Dr. Scott Todd, Share what is possible by sharing a success story.  South Korea is the best success story, and what is possible is to turn sub-Saharan Africa into South Korea.

443-452 – Dr. Scott Todd, It isn't just about helping others, it's about aligning our own hearts with God's.

458-508 – Dr. Bill Sears (askdrsears.com), is Associate Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the UC Irvine School of Medicine, a medical and parenting consultant for BabyTalk and Parenting magazines, and he's a father of 8 and a grandfather of 9.  He's been a pediatrician for over 30 years, and authored more than 42 books on childcare, including his bestselling The Baby Book: Everything You Need to Know About Your Baby from Birth to Age Two.  Three of his sons are doctors with him, Dr. Jim, Dr. Bob, Dr. Peter, and his wife Martha an RN.  They just started their 6-week online course called "The LEAN Program," addressing Lifestyle, Exercise, Attitudes, and Nutrition.

Would you rather spend money on good food, or good healthcare?  In America our food is cheap but our healthcare is expensive.  You'll either pay the grocer or the doctor, it's your choice.

The best diet includes lots of the four S's:  smoothies, salads, salmon, and spices.

It's not the red meat that's bad for you, it what the red meat ate that's bad for you.  Look for "free range."

The brain triples in volume in the first two years.  The best brain foods are salmon, blueberries, spinach, and walnuts.

A person should east a fistful of salmon twice a week, beginning at age 8 months.  Bill gets his Alaskan salmon from vitalchoice.com, or from Trader Joe's.

A person isn't "overweight," they're actually "pre-diabetic."

To avoid Alzheimer's, get regular oil changes – change out the bad oils for the good oils.  The bad oils are hydrogenated, processed, cotton, soybean, some corn, and vegetable oil.  The good oils are fish, flax, olive, coconut, and nuts.

Grazing is better the gorging – his Rule of 2s – eat twice as often, half as much, chew twice as long, and dine in twice the time.

Go organic for all fruits and vegetables you don't peel.  Non-organic bananas and oranges are okay.

Breast feed as often and as long as you can, the WHO recommends until age 2.  At 6 months, start making your own baby food.  At 8 months, introduce your baby to wild salmon.

10% of kids have the "D's":  ADD, ACD, ADHD, etc.  And we're way over-medicating active kids, especially boys.  Many boys simply suffer from the 3 "Bs" – bright, bored, boys.  In the Ritalin vs. Recess Studies, they found that boys do better after having a recess than they do after taking Ritalin.

Mom's need to learn the "We" Principle – in this family this is what we eat, how we eat, what we say and how we say it.

Greek yogurt is a fabulous substitute for margarines.  Blender yes, juicer no.

Dr. Sears is a huge fan of "Attachment Parenting" – the whole idea behind it is to put yourself behind your child's eyes.  The research is investigating the link between brain chemistry and mental health.  It seems that early intimacy with mom in the first two years impacts brain chemistry and prevents the onset of some mental illness.  Specifically, if the infant learns empathy early on, they will grow to become empathetic toddlers, children, and adults.  A lack of empathy is a common thread among many mental disorders.

For any child with a development delay, first address the diet.  "Go fish," meaning, get the Omega oils found only in fish.  Second, "raise a grazer," meaning, smaller more frequent meals.  And, maintain a stable blood sugar with fruit smoothies.  For exercise, get them into a swimming pool frequently, and then onto a horse.

512-523 – Dr. Bill Sears.  What about neural development and emotional bonding?

528-539 – Dr. Bill Sears.  What should you look for in a pediatrician?  Trust, because they are becoming a family member.  What about spanking?  Utilize other disciplines than corporal.

544-554 – Dr. Bill Sears.  When should a child be weaned from a bottle?

558-608 – Executive Producer Jonathan Wilson and writer/creator Jim Riley talk about their pre-Revolutionary War series "Courage, New Hampshire," (watch it at colonybay.net) filmed entirely on location at Riley's American Heritage Farm in Oak Glen (rileysfarm.com) – a pick-your-own fruit apple orchard and living history educational farm with a dinner theater, banquet facilities and extended, historically-themed overnight stays. Jim has performed Patrick Henry's "Give Me Liberty" speech for hundreds of thousands of visitors to his family's 700 acre farm.  This is the first independently-produced digital television series self-financed by an online fan base – through a "crowd-funding" page on IndieGoGo.com, grassroots supporters can make contributions in return for "perks" which range from DVDs and premiere tickets to walk-on roles in future episodes.

644-656 – Josh Lindblom, #52 right-handed pitcher for the 2012 LA Dodgers.  Josh grew up in Indiana, pitched for the University of Tennessee and then Purdue, before signing with the Dodgers as their 2nd Round pick in 2008.  He made his major league debut on June 1, 2011, throwing 29.1 innings for the Dodgers last year.  This year, he's pitched 34 innings and with a 2.91 ERA (the Dodgers are currently in first place in the NL West on 6/25/2012).  Josh and his high-school-sweetheart wife Aurielle have set up the Josh Lindblom Foundation (joshlindblom.com), and for every appearance he makes this season, they'll be donating $52 to the Dream Center and $52 to his Foundation's efforts in Lafayette, Indiana.  The Foundation Launch was June 13th at Dodger Stadium.
