400-408 – Garry Poole, was evangelism pastor at Willow Creek for 16 years, before joining up with Lee Strobel and Mark Mittelberg at The Institute at Cherry Hills (chcc.org/the_institute.aspx, 303-791-4100).  Today, we talk about his blueprint book Seeker Small Groups: Engaging Spiritual Seekers in Life-Changing Discussions (Amazon).  Christians need to get out of their Holy Huddle and create non-threatening opportunities to engage non-believers on the big issues.  He's got a book on 1001 conversation starters entitled The Complete Book of Questions (Amazon). Garry says the key is to live in "3D" – to Develop new friendships, Discover their story, then Discern the next steps.  He asks, "Who's your one life?"  Who is the one person you're praying for that is far from God?

Today, we talk about what they did a couple weekends ago (April 29th) at Cherry Hills Community Church when Gary interviewed 3 non-Christians – not on Saturday, but during all three church services on Sunday!  Go here http://www.chcc.org/the_institute_resources.aspx, and click "Watch."

• NRO (5/21/2012) North Rowan High School Teacher Suspended

The North Rowan High School teacher who told a student not to criticize "disrespect" President Obama in her classroom has been suspended (with pay, of course), according to the Salisbury Post:

Rowan-Salisbury Schools officials suspended a North Rowan High School teacher Monday while investigating an incident caught on camera where the teacher told a student he could be arrested for speaking ill of President Barack Obama.

In a nearly 10-minute YouTube video shot by a student in the classroom, Tanya Dixon-Neely, a social studies teacher, told students criticism of the president could lead to jail time.

"Do you realize that people were arrested for saying things bad about Bush?" she said of former President Bush. "Do you realize you are not supposed to slander the president?"

Dixon-Neely has been suspended with pay, according to Rowan-Salisbury School System Spokeswoman Rita Foil.

The rest here.

443-452 – Calls – Teachers, is this what your class sounds like?  In your opinion, what did she do wrong?  What do you try to do?  Students, have you ever been tempted to record your teacher?  Have you ever?  Should students be able to record their classes?

458-508 – Calls –

512-523 – Caller Mike Long, 2008 California Teacher of the Year, is today a principal in South Whittier.  To get his module on "Freedom to Express," written for teachers to start constitutional conversations, call the LA County Office of Education.  BTW, Mike says he encouraged his students to record his classes!

528-539 – Dr. Arnie Cole, CEO of Back to the Bible, and Director of Research & Development at the Center for Bible Engagement, has dedicated his life to leading people into a dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ through daily Bible engagement – based upon his scientific research into the spiritual lives of over 85,000 Americans.  Bottom line – "There's power in God's Word," it works.  Yet, the Bible is the most unread bestseller of all time – and Arnie lives to change that.  He and his co-author, Michael Ross, have just released Unstuck: Your Life, God's Design, Real Change (unstuck.gotandem.com).  Arnie and his wife Char have adult children and live near Lincoln, Nebraska, where they operate Still Waters Ranch, an equestrian center that serves as a community outreach.

Get unstuck!  70% of Christian males under 39 are regularly engaged in internet pornography, which keeps them "stuck" spiritually.  Arnie has been working for years on a way to help. Go to gotandem.com, and they can send you a "spiritual interruption" text messages throughout the day, and especially your most vulnerable times, to keep you non-distracted.

544-554 – Dr. Arnie Cole,

558-608 – Psychologist Dr. John "Bo" Rosemond, "America's Most Widely Read Parenting Expert," has written fourteen books on parenting and family issues, including his huge bestseller Parenting by The Book (2008), his nationally-syndicated column appears weekly in over 200 newspapers, and he gives 200 presentations a year literally all over the world (rosemond.com).  He's on the Board of Directors of parentalrights.org, working to get a much-needed parents' rights amendment into the Constitution. John and Willie have been married 42 years, have two children, and 7 grandkids.  John says, "I am attempting to spearhead a retro-revolution in how families are structured and function. I am absolutely convinced – no, make that I absolutely know – that although times have changed, traditional parenting still works. In fact, it is the only parenting paradigm that does work for parent, child, marriage, school, community, and culture."  Age 64.

• John is speaking at the Great Homeschool Convention, May 25th-26th at the Long Beach Convention Center (californiahomeschoolconvention.com).

We start today with John asking whether there would be a difference in your family if he were an invisible guest observing what went on in your family during the week, than what went on in a non-Christian home.  The template for "Biblical parenting" is Deut 6:6-7.

• The Blaze (5/19/2012) MAN WITH 30 KIDS — BY 11 DIFFERENT MOTHERS — SEEKS CHILD SUPPORT HELP.  Your taxes are raising his kids – the social and financial cost of "my right to do what I want."

A 33-year-old Tennessee man with 30 children has asked the state for a break on his child support payments.

Desmond Hatchett of Knoxville, Tenn. fathered 30 kids with 11 different women and is having trouble supporting them all, WREG-TV reported.

Appearing in court this week, Hatchett said he's struggling to make ends meet on his minimum-wage job. The state takes half his paycheck and divides it up among the mothers — meaning some receive as little as $1.49 a month.

His oldest child is 14. The youngest is a toddler.

How exactly did he end up with so many? As he explained once in a television interview — back in 2009 when he had just 21 — "I had four kids in the same year. Twice." In that same interview he also swore he was "done" having children.

Despite Hatchett's prolific reproductive capabilities — believed to be a county record — officials say he hasn't broken any laws and that there's nothing they can do to keep him from fathering any more.

"If there's something out there like that, I'm unaware of it," Melissa Gibson with the Knox County child support clerk's office told the Los Angeles Times. "It definitely needs to be."

612-623 – Dr. John Rosemond.  What's your advice to couples preparing to start a family?  Gen 2:24, man and woman are to become "one flesh."  Time spent as Husband-Wife, Father-Mother, arms on the cross.  The responsibility of a Christian father is to love his wife and the mother of his children.

628-639 – Dr. John Rosemond.  What about divorce, blended families, "your's mine and our's"?  We've got to play the hand we're dealt, and the hand is, half the people listening are or will be divorced, and many of those are or will be parents.  To the single-moms, be an interesting person, "mother" is a part-time job after age 2.  "I am more than just your mother!"  It's not BLENDED family, it's blended FAMILY!

644-656 – Dr. John Rosemond.  How the role of "mom" has changed since the 1960's?  It used to be house-wife, today it's stay-at-home-mom.  Sadly, your identity is in being "mom" rather than "wife."
