400-408 – Pastor Cliff Asai of Westlight Community Church in Santa Monica, and Pastor Danny Furukawa from Shepherd of the Hills' Westside VA Campus at the Wadsworth Theater, led a fourteen-member ministry team back in August to the Sendai region in northern Japan to help with the clean-up after the tsunami on March 11, 2010 and the ensuing nuclear disaster at Fukushima.  They'll be going again in 2012 (japanrelief2011.wordpress.com).

458-508 – Jeff Vines, senior pastor of Christ's Church of the Valley (ccvsocal.com), invites everyone to their free Sound of Christmas event tonight and tomorrow night at 7pm at the APU Felix Event Center on Foothill in Azusa (ccvsocal.com/thesoundofchristmas).  Jeff just returned from another trip to Africa, his newly-revised Dinner with Skeptics is doing very well, and he's still able to inspire about half of CCV to get involved actually serving others.  However, Jeff recently hit a "wall" with a heath challenge that has slowed him down a bit – there are times for a strategic withdrawal in order to "live to fight another day."

(1:48) Wendi Lemmons talks about the impact last year's Joy Celebration at CCV had on her and her grand-daughter's life (link).  And Margeaux Fairchild, a single mom with two sons, had lost her second job, and wasn't planning on having any Christmas presents.

512-523 – Jeff Vines.

533-539 – Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, founder of the American Islamic Forum for Democracy (aifdemocracy.org), an organization "committed to demonstrating the synergy of American democracy and its founding principles with the religion of Islam," refers to himself as a "Jeffersonian Muslim," he is a former Navy Lieutenant Commander in the Medical Corps, former president of the Arizona Medical Association, and today is an Internist in private practice in Phoenix.  Check out the excellent documentary he narrates, The Third Jihad (thethirdjihad.com).  AIFD has launched "The Muslim Liberty Project" for the purpose of inoculating youth against radicalization, and helping families deal with their children perhaps becoming radicalized.  And, as a result of the recent hearings in Washington, Zuhdi is no longer the lone voice talking about modernization.  Now, there's this coalition, americanislamicleadership.org.  In response to the recent humanitarian crisis in Syria, Zuhdi was part of the team that started savesyrianow.com.

558-608 – (3:00) Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley files suit against B of A, Wells Fargo, Chase, Citi, and GMAC, rejecting the Obama Administration's attempt to bailout the banks with a $20 billion amnesty program.  With almost 15 million homeowners underwater, that only comes to $1,300 per homeowner.  Banks are guilty of "robo signing," foreclosing on families without actually holding the note, and profiting from "securitizing" the mortgages illegally.

Paul Karpf, Founder and CEO of Financial Recovery USA (financialrecoveryusa.com, 877-995-55-52), one of just eleven companies in America certified by the Attorney General as a "Certified Foreclosure Consultant," and they have an "A" rating with the BBB.  If you're overwhelmed with credit card debt or struggling to keep up with your mortgage, give Financial Recovery USA a call to schedule your free consultation right now!  Offices are in the city of Orange, Woodland Hills and now Colton.  "Real solutions for real financial problems," that's Financial Recovery USA.

• Call to action:  "If you got your loan between 2001 and the summer of 2007 your loan is most likely securitized, so you need to call Paul right now and see if he can help you. And if you call before 8:00 tonight Paul will waive his fee and have a counselor meet with you free of charge."

612-623 – •• Florida Family Association, TLC's "All-American Muslim" is propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda. 65 companies pull off the show. Please send your email to recent advertisers.

• LAT Editorial (12/13/2011) Lowe's has free speech rights too.  A flap over the company's pulling ads from TV's 'All-American Muslim' has California Sen. Ted Lieu threatening to seek a legislative remedy. That would come perilously close to forced, not free, speech.

// Lowe's was reacting to complaints generated by the Florida Family Assn. claiming that the show, which follows the day-to-day lives of several Muslim households in Dearborn, Mich., whitewashed its portrait of Muslim life and was trying to "manipulate Americans into ignoring the threat of jihad." In this group's view, if the show didn't portray Muslim terrorists, then it couldn't possibly be showing real Muslims. //

628-639 – (1:20) Promo for All American Muslim.

Calls – The Los Angeles Times editorial says, in criticism of the Florida Family Association, "In this group's view, if the show didn't portray Muslim terrorists, then it couldn't possibly be showing real Muslims," and later, "Lowe's withdrawal could ultimately prove foolish. Just as there are bigots in this country, there are others who deplore giving in to such prejudice; some of them are now calling for a boycott."  So, are Lowe's, Kayak, and the other 65 advertisers that have pulled out all "bigots" for doing so?  Are you more likely, or less likely, to shop at Lowe's now?  Wouldn't you prefer to see "American Muslim" address things like jihad, Sharia law, polygamy, the mistreatment of women, and radical fundamentalism?  Wouldn't you like to know if there are American Muslims who, like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser, are calling for a condemnation of political Islam, a condemnation of honor killings, and a rejection of evil in the name of God?

• USA Today (12/14/2011) Survey: More teens using synthetic drugs.

My Summary – The University of Michigan surveyed 47,000 students in 8th, 10th and 12th grades in 400 public and private schools around the nation, and found…

Tobacco and alcohol use are at their lowest levels since the survey began in 1975.

Marijuana use has increased four years in a row after a decade of decline, and is now at the highest rate in the past 30 years.

Half of 12th graders said they had tried an illicit drug before, 40% said it was within the past year, 25% said within the past month, and 7% say they smoke marijuana daily.

38% of 10th graders said they had tried an illicit drug before.

11% of 12th graders had tried synthetic drugs "K2" or "Spice."

Synthetics are outlawed by the DEA and in 40 states.  Often packed as potpourri or herbal incense and sold in convenience stores.  Their effects mimic marijuana.
