400-408 – Joel Rosenberg (joelrosenberg.com) former senior aide to both Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky, campaign manager for U.S. presidential candidate Steve Forbes and his work on the flat tax, and Joel assisted with several other campaigns of various U.S. and Israeli political leaders.  Joel was even Director of Research for Rush Limbaugh.  But, today, Joel is best known as a best-selling author of riveting page-turners about Israel, the Middle East, and Biblical prophecy – with plots many times predicting months ahead of time the actual headlines.  His latest book came out last week from Tyndale entitled The Tehran Initiative about things we've actually read in the headlines – an Iranian terror cell in New York sent to assassinate Jewish leaders and blow up embassies, an American president reluctant to consider launching his own preemptive strike against Iranian nuclear sites, and a president who pressures Israel not to launch – which happened earlier this month when Defense Secretary Leon Panetta traveled to Israel to warn Israel not to launch a first strike against Iran.  Joel is also the founder of The Joshua Fund, an outreach to the needy of Israel (joshuafund.net).

• Daniel Indiviglio (The Atlantic, 10/27/2011) Obama's Student-Loan Order Saves the Average Grad Less Than $10 a Month.  The monthly impact of the president's new effort for most Americans paying off college debt will be between $4 and $8.  So, who do you think is going to end up paying for this?

My Summary –

Student loans have increased 511% since 1999.

82% of ALL student loans were accrued in the past 10 years.

Lowers student loan payments from 15% to 10% of the student's income above the poverty line (about $11,000).

(Of the 36 million student loans, only 450,000 now participate in the program to lower payments to a 15% ceiling.)

Lowers the debt forgiveness from 25 years to 20 years.

Cuts the effective interest rate on student loans by 0.5%.

The changes will begin in 2012 instead of 2014.

The average Bachelor degree debt is $27,204, with these changes, their payment will be reduced $7.75 per month.

On a loan balance of $100,000, the monthly savings would be $28.50.

Anyone who graduates in or before 2011 will be eligible.  Since 82% were from the past decade, any loan forgiveness won't be felt for decades.

Bottom line, this is more wealth redistribution – tax payers paying for universal college education run by the federal government.

• Fox News (10/26/2011) Obama Taps Taxpayers For Student Stimulus.

My Summary –

This only expedites what the Democrats passed in 2010.

The goal is to have the federal government take over the student loan business.

// Obama is now seeking to use that new power to obtain a taxpayer-financed stimulus that Congress won't approve. The idea is to cap student loan repayment rates at 10 percent of a debtor's income that goes above the poverty line, and then limiting the life of a loan to 20 years.

Take this example: If Suzy Creamcheese gets into George Washington University and borrows from the government the requisite $212,000 to obtain an undergraduate degree, her repayment schedule will be based on what she earns. If Suzy opts to heed the president's call for public service, and takes a job as a city social worker earning $25,000, her payments would be limited to $1,411 a year after the $10,890 of poverty-level income is subtracted from her total exposure.

Twenty years at that rate would have taxpayers recoup only $28,220 of their $212,000 loan to Suzy.

The president will also allow student debtors to refinance and consolidate loans on more favorable terms, further decreasing the payoff for taxpayers.

Obama's move comes at a moment when many economists are warning of a college debt bubble that is distorting college tuition rates and threatening to further damage credit markets. The president's move is intended to make college more affordable for more people, which will, in turn allow universities to jack up their rates.

As in the housing bubble, cheap credit on easy terms increases the amount of money chasing the product (in this case a diploma) allowing schools to increase prices. This inflation makes it harder for middle-class families to afford paying their own tuitions, driving them into the government financing program, which, you guessed it, drives up costs further still.

644-654 – Calls – So parents, what would happen if a little boy was welcomed into your Girl Scout Troop?  Or a girl in your Boy Scout Troop?  Would you stay in, or withdraw?  Why is it, that groups pushing a progressive sexual agenda never want to start an organization from scratch, they just want to take over an existing organization with all its assets?  Which is why I contend that progressivism is parasitic, it never creates it's own thing, it just wants to infect and take over a host.  Think of the now pro-gay mainline denominations.  Why can't they just start a LGBT Scouting program, why destroy both organizations?  Answer – it's cheaper.
