400-408 – Rabbi Joe Telushkin (josephtelushkin.com) was a childhood friend of Dennis Prager, they went to Columbia together, and Dennis said he's knowledgeable, wonderful, and hilarious.  Rabbi Joe is the author of many books on Jewish theology, philosophy, and history, and has written several novels, popular articles, and television and film scripts.  But his Jewish Literacy: The Most Important Things to Know About the Jewish Religion, Its People and Its History has been the most widely read book on Judaism of the past two decades, and his monumental two-volume A Code of Jewish Ethics has rapidly risen to the pinnacle of its field.  Rabbi Joe is the spiritual leader of the Synagogue for the Performing Arts in Los Angeles, but he lives in New York City with his wife, writer Deborah Telushkin, and their four children.  Plus, there's a bunch of YouTubes of Rabbi Joe teaching on a variety of subjects available online.

Today we talk about "loving your enemies," and Jewish Humor – sourcing his Biblical Literacy: The Most Important People, Events, and Ideas of the Hebrew Bible, and his book on humor, Jewish Humor: What the Best Jewish Jokes Say About the Jews.

• David Spady (Townhall, 5/8/2011) $200,000 Lifeguards to Receive Millions in Retirement.  Calls – A Newport Beach lifeguard can make over $200 grand, retire at 50 with full medical and over $108,000 a year for life!?!  What's your dream job?  Are you doing anything to make it a reality?  Are any of you working in your dream job?  Are you working towards completing the qualifications and requirements that are necessary for you to "get in"?  (Which, of course, is why a liberal education is so important.)

Do you have a dream that you're working toward?  Are you getting closer every day?  If you have nothing that you're working toward, you're certain to get there – at nothing.  How can you get paid to pursue your passion?

628-639 – • Your Houston News (5/8/2011) Man airlifted after fight with cat.  You know your cat has snapped when you have to defend yourself with a knife!  Ever been attacked by a pet?  Ever have to use a weapon against your pet?

A Cleveland man was attacked by a housecat Friday afternoon and the man's injuries are so severe that he had to be taken by air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.  The altercation between the man and the animal occurred at a home on CR 3182 a few miles south of Cleveland in Liberty County.  At some point during the attack, the man and the cat reportedly were injured by a knife the man was holding. The man was taken to Cleveland Regional Medical Center before being transported to Houston.  Game wardens Danny Diaz and Adam Broll captured the cat. It was taken to Big Thicket Animal Hospital for examination.  The man's identity is unknown at this time.

Game Warden Danny Diaz expected to find an animal a little more fierce than the tabby cat he encountered when he was called to a home on CR 3182 in Cleveland on Friday. The cat, like the one pictured, was mortally wounded by a man who attacked the cat with a knife after the cat reportedly attacked the man. During the struggle with the cat, the man sustained cuts and injuries so serious that he had to be taken by air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston. The cat was later euthanized by a Cleveland veterinarian.

• Keith Ablow (Fox, 5/6/2011) Cameron Diaz Is Right -- 4 Reasons Why Marriage IS a Dying Institution.  "America's Psychiatrist" ends his column with this paragraph,

// It's only a matter of time now. Marriage will fade away. We should be thinking about what might replace it. We should come up with something that improves the quality of our lives and those of our children. And we should keep government out of it, if we know what's good for us.
