528-539 – • DreamActivist, FAQ.  DREAM stands for "Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors".  Roughly 800,000 teens and young adults would be eligible.  There are four basic requirements which are:  1) You entered the country before the age of 16;  2) You graduate high school or obtain a GED;  3) You have good moral character (no criminal record); and 4) You have at least five years of continuous presence in the US.  If you meet the above criteria, once the DREAM Act passes, you will then have six years within which to obtain a two-year college degree or complete two-years of military service.   Upon doing all of this you will gain the chance to adjust your conditional permanent residency to U.S. citizenship.

• Yahoo News (12/9/2010) Democrats delay action on young immigrants bill.  The House passed it Wednesday, with 8 Republicans joining, and 40 Democrats opposing, but the Senate moved yesterday to postpone it because Harry Reid didn't have the 60 votes to pass it, since 42 Republicans signed a pledge to block action on any bill until the bill to extend the tax cuts gets settled.

• Gallup (12/10/2010) Slim Majority of Americans Would Vote for DREAM Act Law.  Fifty-four percent favor granting legal status to illegal immigrants brought to U.S. as children.  54% for, 42% against, 4% no opinion.

• Mark Krikorian, NRO (12/1/2010) DREAM On: The amnesty-for-illegals crowd has found some sympathetic poster children.  Mark Krikorian is executive director of the Center for Immigration Studies, an NRO contributor, and author of The New Case Against Immigration, Both Legal and Illegal and How Obama Is Transforming America Through Immigration.

• Mark Krikorian, Center for Immigration Studies (12/8/2010) Military DREAM Is a Mirage.  At most, only 31,000 illegals would gain citizenship via military service via the DREAM act – over the next TEN years!  Only 3,000 per year!  Yet, military recruitment needs 14,000 per month, or 156,000 recruits per year.  Furthermore, 12% of the students that would qualify under the DREAM act, who already have a high-school diploma or GED, that's 1:8, can't speak English!
