A big thank you to mayor Curt Pringle of Anaheim, and his wonderful Chief of Staff Mishal Montgomery, for putting on a great prayer breakfast this morning at the Anaheim Convention Center for 1500 of us, with special music by Chris Tomlin and a wonderful talk by journalist Brit Hume of Fox News. I was honored to step in as emcee for my buddy Hugh Hewitt unfortunately who couldn't make it.

Today we start off by asking the question: What's so good about being good?
• LA Times (9/16/2010) Pope Benedict XVI urges Britain not to let secularism overshadow Christianity.
413-423 – Why do the right thing? Plato's Myth of Gyges, and doing the right thing just because it's the right thing because the pursuit of virtue is it's own reward.
428-437 – Can you have "ethics without God"? Of course. But, it will not have a solid intellectual foundation.
443-452 – In light of the Pope's comments, how do we confront the advance of secularism?
458-508 – What can we learn from the early church on how to "win culture"? How did the Christians out-live the pagans? What do you think of James Davison Hunter's new book To Change the World?
512-523 – Politics is theology applied. It is not our responsibility to "save culture" anymore than it is our responsibility to "save people." We are to be faithful witnesses to live out the gospel.
