But as the protest continued and crowds grew, one woman in a hijab began to shout curses and slurs that shocked Jewish activists in the city, which has a sizable Jewish population.  "Go back to the oven," she shouted, calling for the counter-protesters to die in the manner that the Nazis used to exterminate Jews during the Holocaust.  "You need a big oven, that's what you need," she yelled.
The unidentified woman, who protest organizers said was a Muslim, wasn't the only protester who raised hackles that day. Other demonstrators held signs that said "Nuke Israel," and a number made comparisons to the Holocaust, accusing Israel of genocide in Gaza.

While 15,000 have died in clashes between the Israelis and Palestinians since 1983, that number is dwarfed by the 70,000 killed in clashes between the Sinhalese Buddhists and Tamil Hindus in Sri Lanka.
The history of displacement among Palestinians hardly makes them unique among the peoples of the world, though they've seized on the term "refugee" as the very essence of their identity. At most 750,000 Palestinian Arabs became refugees after five Arab states simultaneously attacked Israel in 1948, but within the next ten years an even greater number of Jews (800,000) became refugees from persecution in Islamic nations in North Africa in the Middle East and resettled in the Jewish state. At precisely the same moment that Israel won world recognition in 1948, the partition of India and Pakistan led to 14.5 million refugees (and at least 500,000 deaths in the "Independence Riots"). The Lebanon Civil War of 1975-1990 produced 900,000 refugees (according to that tormented nation's own government) and an estimated 200,000 to 250,000 deaths in horrific clashes between Arab Muslims and Arab Christians.

• Dick Morris (1/7/09) Franken's Funny Business.
The recount actually wants to count ballots in twenty-five precincts that would bring the total of votes cast higher than the actual number of people who voted!  In Ramsey County, 177 more votes have been counted than people who voted on Election Day.  The canvassing board, in effect, is admitting that it is counting fraudulent, duplicate ballots!  In some cases absentee ballots, particularly from troops serving overseas, have been counted.  In other cases, not.  One ballot, on which Franken was crossed out and replaced by "Frankenstein" was counted as a Democratic vote.
Apparently, when a ballot was challenged, a copy was made to facilitate examination.  But, in many cases, the canvasser failed to label the ballot as a duplicate.  Then, in the recount, all the ballots were counted, ensuring that the challenged vote was not only counted, but counted twice.
What makes all of this suspicious in the extreme is that each of these errors inured to Franken's advantage and eroded Coleman's election night lead until the Democrat could claim victory.
