• Bjorn Lomborg (WSJ) How to Get the Biggest Bang for 10 Billion Bucks.  The Copenhagen Consensus reports that global terrorism takes an average of 420 lives per year.  If we spent $75 billion over the next five years, we could reduce terrorism deaths by 25% saving us $21 billion.  That's a return of $0.30 on each dollar invested to save 105 lives.  That is, the costs are three times higher than the benefits.  Climate change mitigation yields only a $0.90 return, while R&D yield an $11.00 return for each dollar invested.  Fighting disease yields a $20.00 return, spending about $500 million, saving 500,000 lives.  Fighting hunger with micronutrients vitamin A and Zinc yields a $17.00 return.
