400-408 – •• New York Post (6/10/2012) School pulls patriotic song at graduation, but Justin Bieber's 'Baby' is OK.  Check out other teachers' anonymous reviews of the principal, Greta Hawkins here.

(:52) • The Blaze (6/11/2012) THIS 5-YEAR-OLD SINGING 'GOD BLESS THE USA' COULD BE THE CUTEST THING YOU SEE ALL DAY.  Daniel Lozada, one of the kindergartners at a New York public school who won't be able to sing Lee Greenwood's "God Bless the USA" because the principal, Greta Hawkins, a Jehovah's Witness who won't stand for the Pledge of Allegiance or salute the flag, thinks it might offend other cultures, stole the show on Fox N' Friends this morning.  The Department of Education is supporting Hawkins, saying Hawkins found the lyrics "too grown up" for 5-year-olds.

413-423 – Lee Greenwood. Calls – Are any of you immigrants offended by the song?  Any of you have a problem with a JW teacher who won't salute the flag or stand for the Pledge?

428-438 – Dr. Mary Neal, M.D., (drmaryneal.com) was born and raised in Michigan, graduated from the University of Kentucky before attending UCLA Medical School, then she finished her orthopedic training at USC where she went on to become the Director of Spine Surgery for five years before entering private practice.  She and her family currently live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.  Back in 1999, she was kayaking in the Los Rios region of southern Chile, cascading down a waterfall, when her kayak suddenly became pinned at the bottom where she was immediately and completely submerged. Despite the rescue efforts of her companions, Mary was underwater too long – and she died.  Yet, she's obviously here to share her story.  Her book is entitled To Heaven and Back: A Doctor's Extraordinary Account of Her Death, Heaven, Angels, and Life Again:  A True Story (2012) (Amazon).

443-452 – Dr. Mary Neal, M.D.

458-508 – Dr. David Levy, M.D. (drdlevy.com) is an award-winning author and neurovascular surgeon, who specializes in the treatment of strokes (aneurysms) and other blood vessel diseases of the brain and spine – he's able to repair brain aneurysms by entering the femoral artery without opening up the skull.  And he specializes in praying with his patients!  As told in his book on the role of spirituality in health care entitled Gray Matter: A Neurosurgeon Discovers the Power of Prayer … One Patient at a Time (2011) (Amazon).   Dr. Levy has been a recipient of the People's Choice Award in 2010, he was voted America's Top Surgeon in 2010 and 2011, and he's been honored the Best Doctor Award yearly since 2007.  He practices neurosurgery in San Diego.

612-623 – • The Blaze (6/11/2012) 'HE GOT WHAT HE DESERVED': TEXAS DAD BEATS HIS DAUGHTER'S MOLESTER TO DEATH.  Calls – Did he?

628-639 – David Barton, founder and president of Wallbuilders (wallbuilders.com), a national, pro-family organization that presents America's forgotten history and heroes with an emphasis on our moral, religious, and constitutional heritage.  David has archived over 100,000 pre-1812 documents, and the website is filled with a great many resources, and many of them are free.  David is a best-selling author and tireless speaker, appearing at over 400 events a year.  His America's Godly Heritage launched my interest in government and political philosophy back in 1990.

• David's latest book is The Jefferson Lies: Exposing the Myths You've Always Believed About Thomas Jefferson (2012) (Amazon).  David exposes seven common lies about Jefferson:  1) Did he father children with Sally Hemings?  2) Did he found a secular university?  3) Did he write his own bible and edit out what he didn't agree with?  4) Was he a racist who opposed equality with black Americans?  5) Did he advocate for a secular public square through the separation of church and state?  6) Did he detest the clergy?  7) Was he an atheist?

• The whole point of the (first of two) Jefferson Bible, was not to "cut out the offensive miracles" in order to have an acceptable naturalistic-deist bible, but to cut out the essentials and paste them into what we would call a synoptic (chronological) Bible for evangelizing Indians!

• Library of Congress, Jefferson's Letter to the Danbury Baptists.

Where would our founders say we went off the rails?  Two places:  in 1804 with the passage of the 12th Amendment which made the president directly elected by the people; and in 1913 with the 17th Amendment and the direct election of senators.

• Lois M. Collins , Deseret News (6/9/2012) Studies challenge widely held assumptions about same-sex parenting.

The oft-cited assertion that there are "no differences" in outcomes between children of same-sex parent households and those of intact biological families may not be accurate, according to a new study published Sunday in the journal Social Science Research.

Adult children of parents who have been in same-sex relationships are different than children raised in intact biological families on a number of social, emotional and relationship measures, according to research from the University of Texas at Austin.

Among other things, they reported lower income levels, poorer mental and physical health and more troubled current romantic relationships. The study found 25 differences across 40 measures. //
